As Canadian businesses pivot in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, we have compiled a list of resources to help businesses navigate this change. InBC is committed to supporting B.C. businesses in this transition in whatever capacity we can, including coordinating with our partners and other B.C. business supporters and working directly with the B.C. companies and funds in our portfolio.

This list will be updated as additional tools and resources become available. 

Provincial Resources:

• B.C.’s response to U.S. tariffs provides the most up-to-date facts on current tariffs, plus resources for workers and businesses, including a guide to check if specific products are eligible for tariff excemptions and reductions.
• Additional funding and intake for the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund is coming soon to help manufacturing businesses boost productivity, develop new products, strengthen supply chains and reach new markets.
• The Regional Tariff Response Initiative in B.C., delivered through PacifiCan, offers funding support to help SMEs pivot to new paths of growth. Learn more at the info session is on September 21.
• Trade and Invest BC offers a variety of resources for B.C. businesses expanding to international markets.
• Export Navigator supports B.C. businesses to diversify and grow through the export process.
• The BC Agriculture and Food Export Program offers funding to support B.C. businesses to diversify and expand into new markets.
• The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) offers workshops and mentorship for businesses seeking international trade opportunities.

Federal Resources:

• The Canada Tariff Finder is a tool for navigating tariff information for specific products and countries where Canada has a Free Trade Agreement.
• The new Canada Strong Diversification Fund, an extension of the Strategic Response Fund, is now available. Two funding streams are available for sectors significantly affected by U.S. tariffs.
• Trade Commissioner Service has a variety of resources and funding programs including the CanExport SMEs and the CanExport Innovation to help Canadian businesses expand into new international markets.
• Trade Commissioner Service also has a guide to understanding CUSMA compliance, as well as a support hotline: 1-833-760-1167.
• The Government of Canada’s remissions programs offers tariff relief to Canadian importers.
• The Duties Relief Program allows qualified companies to avoid duties on the import of commercial goods, as long as those goods are eventually exported. Also see the Drawback Program, which grants refunds on duties paid.
• BDC offers tools and resources for navigating trade uncertainty and tariffs including its Trade Resilience consulting service and new Pivot to Grow funding for Canadian businesses that export to the U.S.
• EDC’s Trade Impact Program supports eligible Canadian exporters with expanded financing, working capital and more.
• EDC also has a U.S. market intelligence hub for Canadian exporters.
• The Large Enterprise Tariff Loan (LETL) facility provides financing support to large Canadian enterprises affected by tariffs, including liquidity support.
